Loving Memory of Johnnie Johnson: 1924-2005
The Johnnie Johnson Blues & Jazz Society of
Fairmont, W.V. is dedicated to honoring the Father
of Rock 'N Roll, Johnnie Johnson.
The society sponsors the Annual
Johnnie Johnson Blues & Jazz Festival
held every summer in Johnnie's birthplace of
Fairmont, West Virginia. National and regional
blues musicians perform at the festival, named
in honor of the great Johnnie Johnson. The Johnnie
Johnson Blues & Jazz Society also
promotes Blues & Jazz concerts throughout
the year in Fairmont, W.V.
In 2006, the 5th
Annual Johnnie Johnson Blues & Jazz Festival
will be held on August 25-27, 2006 at Palatine Park
in Fairmont, WV. This year's concert schedule will be announced soon!
About Johnnie: Johnnie
Johnson wrote the music for Chuck Berry's greatest
hits! Johnnie is considered one of the greatest
blues pianists ever to have lived and influenced
the entire evolution of rock 'n roll music. Johnnie
was "rediscovered" in 1986, when Rolling
Stones guitarist Keith Richards sought out Johnnie
for the documentary, "Hail! Hail! Rock 'n'
Roll". Johnnie received a Congressional Citation
in 1999, for his lifetime contributions to Blues
& Jazz Music. Johnnie Johnson was inducted
into the Rock
& Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Rod Piazza and
the Mighty Flyers
www.themightyflyers.com
|
You would think that after 36
years on the road as a professional musician,
California harmonica player Rod Piazza would
look at each show as just another days work without
worrying about how he will be received by the
crowd. After all, Piazza has played in front of
literally millions of people over the years and
has received lavish praise from fellow musicians
and fans alike.
While most of the Blues finding
it's way to disk these days carries the baggage
of the Rock, Soul, Funk and other popular music
that Blues artists and the general public have
listened to since the 70's, Piazza remains steadfastly
devoted to the Blues as they were played by first
generation Blues artists in the 50's.
